Canyon Creek Cabinet Company Employees Support Local Food Bank
Monroe, WA - December 2008
Beginning in 2001, the employees of Canyon Creek Cabinet Company have teamed up to support the annual food drive that benefits their community food bank. Canyon Creek has become one of the food bank's largest contributors, and has been instrumental in providing meals for those in need during the Thanksgiving holidays.
Each year, Canyon Creek sets increased goals that they have exceeded nearly every year. This year, the company collected 1,204 pounds of food and $7,945 in cash. The donations were presented to the Sky Valley Food Bank that benefits Snohomish County needy families.
According to Julie Morris, executive director of the Sky Valley Food Bank, "Thanksgiving has always been a difficult time for the food bank to provide for the needy, and this year was particularly challenging. Many folks have lost their jobs, and we are seeing record numbers of people turning to the food bank for the first time. The Canyon Creek food drive allows us to cover Thanksgiving, and their cash donation also positions us to begin purchasing for Christmas."
