Canyon Creek Cabinet Company has been working with the Snohomish County PUD this past year to complete an LED retrofit to update its entire lighting system, both inside and outside. This large-scale project was undertaken to increase productivity and profitability by replacing old, less efficient lighting with new LED lighting technology.
The project involved replacement of T-8 fluorescent fixtures to energy efficient T-8 LED bulbs in its 285,000 sf factory, offices and showroom in Monroe, WA. All the new lighting fixtures in the offices were equipped with occupancy sensors, and improve the lighting quality and uniformity throughout the building. The lighting in the manufacturing plant was upgraded to LED T-8 bulbs and the external lights were also replaced with LED lights to provide additional savings.
This large project will result in an energy cost savings of $30,000 per year and a maintenance cost savings of $24,000 per year. It will also result in an overall 56% decrease in annual energy usage for the lights.
According to Canyon Creek’s environmental manager John Earl, “Working with the PUD really helps companies to afford these energy savings projects. The up-front rebate paid for over one-half of the total project cost and the energy savings will pay it off in a year.”
