All The Essentials For Your Memorial Day Cookout Menu

Break out the charcoal because it’s grilling season! We don’t know about you, but we always look forward to a tasty cookout on Memorial Day. Before we deliver a few delicious recipes, remember Memorial Day for what it really is… a special time for U.S. citizens to honor the men and women that served in the armed forces and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Regardless of whether you’re grilling, spending time with family, or cooking up these recipes, we hope that you take the time to honor those who served us proudly and take pride in the red, white and blue.

Appetizers

You asked for a Memorial Day cookout menu, and we’ve delivered! Starting with the appetizers, we had to include some seasonal fruit and a couple of our favorite appetizers we thought you’d enjoy.

  • Grilled Fruit Kabobs with Spiked Strawberry Lemonade: Here’s your first glimpse at summer! Both of these recipes are fresh, sweet and colorful. The lemonade is the perfect cold drink to sip on poolside.
  • Shrimp Skewers: Instead of a more traditional option, like chicken or steak, go with shrimp for your grilled skewers. These are doused with lemon and garlic, keeping it light and airy before the entree.
  • Santa Fe Cobb Salad: Here’s why we love salads for appetizers: it takes a while to eat! Just a small plate requires several bites, which gives your guests an opportunity to meet people at the table and keep busy before the entree is served (plus you can make this ahead of time!).

Entree meal

You probably guessed that the entree would involve the grill… well, you’re right. We’ve listed Glazed Ribs to round out our Memorial Day cookout menu, with the addition of a Bacon Ranch Potato Salad and Grilled Corn. Most likely, you probably have all ingredients for the potato salad and marinade sauces in your pantry and kitchen cupboards.

Dessert

We had to finish out the Memorial Day cookout menu with something spectacular, so that’s why we’re suggesting the Red, White and Blue Memorial Cake. Now, this cake looks difficult, but it only takes a total of 50 minutes to make! Cutting this cake is a great time to honor fallen soldiers with your friends and family, and talk about the importance of Memorial Day.
