Decorative mouldings and trimwork are used throughout the home to provide a finished look to doors, windows, baseboards and cabinets. Pieces are often combined, or stacked, to give a room a custom flair. See our
Moulding Stacks PDF for ideas and inspiration.

Click on the “+” below to see some of the many options available in each category. Many styles are finished on all four sides; we’ve marked which part(s) of each moulding are unfinished.
Crown mouldings
Crown mouldings are typically used to add a decorative trim at the top of walls, where they meet the ceiling. When used to top cabinets, crowns can be stacked or layered to add height, close the gap between the cabinets and the ceiling, or simply add a design flair.
Accent mouldings
Accent mouldings are used throughout the home to provide everything from simple trim around doors and windows to elaborately paneled looks, such as in a dining room. Accent mouldings are often combined with crowns, like the ones above.

Valance mouldings
Valance mouldings are often placed along the bottom of wall cabinets to soften the look of the edge, and to tie in to other trim used throughout the room. Many designers and millwork installers will combine valance mouldings with other styles to create custom looks.
Valance mouldings are available in all of the edge profiles shown at the bottom of the page. (Not all are pictured here.)

Backsplash, casing and self-edge
These workhorse mouldings are often seen filling gaps, especially between a countertop and the wall. Casings may also be combined with crowns and used at the top of the cabinets, to help fill the space between the cabinets and the ceiling.
